In 2009, K.Y.J.O. Enterprises Inc. and D.R.E.A.M. collaborated to form D.R.E.A.M. Central Valley. Our seven residential homes in Fresno, Hanford and Clovis provide 24 hour care for twelve to seventeen year old young men and women with an emphasis on at-risk youth, those from dysfunctional families, wards of the court, or those in the custody of juvenile probation.

Referrals to our program come from various entities within the state of California.  Many of these youth come from broken families and have a history of poor educational and social backgrounds.  However, most of these young men and women have hope of avoiding escalating violence, drugs, and prison.  Our philosophy is that prevention is more logical and effective than incarceration. The goal of our program is to prepare these youth to re-enter society and become productive members in their communities.

Our program treatment team is composed of Executive Board Members, Administrators, Facility (House) Managers, Clinical Staff and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.  When a new youth resident arrives, the entire treatment team is involved in the development of goals for his or her individual plan.  Our youth residents are asked to participate by providing input on their own individual goals and self-awareness.  We feel this is a positive approach for our youth to take personal responsibility for their progress.

While with D.R.E.A.M. Central Valley, our residents must earn and achieve certain levels to graduate from the program. We use a point system as a behavioral treatment approach. Points or levels are made visible, so youth residents can track their own progress. Our treatment team reviews their weekly progress and recommends any changes in their individual approach. The youth are also evaluated through peer and staff house community meetings.  Results and outcomes are based on both quantifiable and qualitative changes in the resident’s attitude and behavior, which are recorded in the resident’s case file.  Outcomes are determined based on our staff observations and the resident’s compliance to follow the rules of each home and their individual treatment program.

The possibility of reunification with their family is very important to our program.  Reunification is done in conjunction with the designated County Probation and Court systems approval. D.R.E.A.M. Central Valley establishes and maintains an appropriate line of communication between the resident, treatment team, placement officer and their family.

Our program combines a strong mix of Psychological and Therapeutic services and a belief that positive exposure will cultivate a new way of thinking and seeing possibilities for their future. D.R.E.A.M. Central Valley’s treatment program also involves a managed approach that focuses on behavior modification, developing a sense of accountability, self-awareness and self-esteem building.  Each one of our youth receives individual therapy tailored to their specific needs.  Our Therapeutic Service Program also includes group therapy, which helps our youth grow together in a positive setting filled with encouragement by their peers. These services are overseen and administered by our professional therapeutic staff.

In addition to our Psychological and Therapeutic services, our youth are encouraged to realize that education and an appropriate academic setting will help prepare them for a better future and integration into society.  When necessary we seek the input of the local school district to develop an I.E.P. (Individual Education Plan) to help our youth gain a grasp on their education.

D.R.E.A.M. Central Valley provides youth with an experience of being part of a structured and positive family relationship. Our hope is that the youth we serve will one day be able to pay forward the valuable lessons they learned during the time they were involved in our program and members of our family.

“Our motto is we can help now, or pay later.  A youthful life is a terrible thing to waste, saving as many as possible is our commitment.”
