Resident Activities

Planned Recreational Activities

KYJO’s activity schedules are coordinated by facility managers, the treatment team and administration.  Activities may take place either inside, or outside of the residential home.  Each resident’s participation is determined on a weekly basis. The following are some examples of KYJO approved activities:

  • Recreational games, such as board games, soccer, softball, basketball, football etc.
  • Trips to the swimming pool, park, library, mall or movie theatre
  • Visitation by family or friends, when appropriate
  • Sporting Events; Oakland A’s,  Oakland Raiders, SF Giants, FSU
  • Fishing Trips
  • AKA (American Kickboxing Academy)
  • Visits to University and College campuses
  • Local and Statewide Recreational Facilities & Events

(Daily activities may vary due to weather or other unexpected change)

Educational Activities

The resources of Hanford, Clovis and Fresno Unified School District will be utilized for the educational and vocational training of KYJO residents.  Hanford, Clovis and Fresno Unified each have schools exclusively identified for children with special needs, including those classified “emotionally disturbed.” When special educational services are needed, the facility manager and treatment team will work to arrange an IEP meeting and to determine the most appropriate placement for the resident.

 Faith Based Activities

Residents are encouraged to attend and become involved in a church of their choosing.  However, KYJO does not specifically support any particular religious philosophy and residents are free to decide  whether they participate in any religious activities.
