Summer is winding down, which means one thing; It’s once again time to get school supplies. However, this school year will be looking different than usual, as Omaha Public School students will be learning both in-person and online. With many uncertainties and questions, this school year will be a bit unusual.
Just like every school year, all students will need school supplies in order to learn efficiently. However, when students are learning from home, they may need some additional resources and tools to help stay focused and productive.
Here is a list of school supplies 2020, for both in-class and at home, that all students should have for this upcoming school year.
In-person school supply list
For in-person classes, the school supply list remains about the same. The traditional supplies you are used to purchasing will need to be repurchased. Here is a general list of supplies that every student needs for in-person classes:
- #2 Pencils (either wooden or mechanical)
- Glue sticks
- Pink erasers
- Scissors
- A pencil bag or pencil box
- Pocket Folders
- Packs of loose-leaf paper
- Notebooks
- Black or blue pens
- Red pens
- Ruler
- Crayons
- Markers
- Backpack
- Face Mask
It’s important to note that Omaha Public Schools are requiring all staff and students to wear face masks this year for every in-person class. It’s also important that students are staying sanitary at school. It is a smart idea to buy your young student hand sanitizer and a box of kleenex that they can keep at their desk.
As traditional school supplies are the same for the most part, every grade and school has its own list of what to get. For a more accurate list of what supplies you need to purchase, visit our school’s website!
At-Home school supplies
Omaha Public Schools have also announced that due to the coronavirus, students will be assigned groups for in-person classes, and will learn from home on the other days. Most of the supplies required for in-person classes will stay the same for at-home learning, but there are also some other items that will help your young student stay on top of their work at home!
- A reliable computer - Students will need a computer to watch videos, access email, other messaging platforms and access their homework
- Internet access
- A separate workplace - Students should have a designated spot in the house where they can perform all of their schoolwork and stay focused. Working on schoolwork on the couch or near a television can become distracting.
- A printer and printing paper
- A calendar (either online or paper)
- Any necessary computer software (such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, etc)
Remote learning can be tough, especially for young students. Creating a productive learning environment at home with these school supplies 2020 will help your young students successfully learn this school year!
